First of all, its not the end of the world, yet,,second, gas is high and i dont like it but to say that these are hare times just doesnt fit, i had breakfast this morning, my cable is on, my internet is on, my electricity is on and all the pleasantries of life are still with me. The trouble today with all people including myself, we are spoiled rotten, we havent begun to see hard times, hard times are what the people in the hurricane are experiencing. Gas will be available to buy, yesterdays run up was panic and greed on the behalf of oil companies. Simmer down folks and bite your tongue when you pay for your gas, but it will come down eventually. The greatest outcome of this will be that new refineries will be built, new oil drilling in Alaska, and within 3-4 years, gas will be a buck a gallon.

Care to make a wager on that? I'm sorry I just dont see it, this recent uprising in price has caused me to turn more anti-Bush than ever. This is outrageous and the blame goes straight to the door of our president.

Was talking to my mom today, and she was saying gas did this many years ago. Was around 30 cents or so a gallon, in the 70's, and then all of a sudden jumped up to $1.00, which was a bit of money for gas. But ya know, it's just some hard times. But 'this too shall pass'

there was this guy in my fourth block class..i'm not sayin any names, but he thinks the world will flood over...because of whut happened with the hurricane in new orleans, of course he's one of those ppl who dont believe in anything, i jsut thought it was weird...he thinks that the world will flood over, and he says it starts now..i thought it was a lil freaky, but if thats whut he thinks then i guess that fine.
Whats President Bush have to do with high gas prices? What did he do to make it go to three bucks?? Please outline that. Did he conjure up that hurricane with magic? Its these tree huggers who want let the goverment build a new refinery in 20 years. The same amount of oil is coming into the country as last year. But you cant burn cude oil in your car...you have to turn it into gas. I hope it stays 3 bucks a gallon. That will cut alot of SOB's out from driving these tanks they call SUV's that get 12 miles to the gallon. The rest of the world pays out the butt for $6 gas while he sit over here with cheap gas so we can drive tanks down the road and send our young people to die in the middle east for that cheap gas. If we had had a energy policy back in 1990 we would not have went to war with Iraq the first time. I hope people buy smaller cars or stop driving as much. If the goverment is guilty of anything, its their do nothing approach to a energy policy. Keep those prices high and watch the demand go down. Watch the roads empty of monster sized vehicles and fill up with economy cars.
We are going on vacation this weekend to Piegon Forge and we all filled up yesterday before gas got so high...smart IMO. but we were kinda freaked out about the gas and was thinking about postponing due to the gas prices.

NEW YORK - Consumers can expect retail gas prices to rise to $4 a gallon soon, but whether they stay there depends on the long-term damage to oil facilities from Hurricane Katrina, oil and gas analysts said Wednesday.
"There's no question gas will hit $4 a gallon," Ben Brockwell, director of pricing at the Oil Price Information Service, said. "The question is how high will it go and how long will it last?"
OPIS tracks wholesale and retail oil prices and provides pricing information for AAA's daily reports on fuel prices.
Brockwell said with gasoline prices now exceeding $3 a gallon before even reaching the wholesale level, it "doesn't take a genius" to expect retail prices to hit $4 a gallon soon.
"Consumers haven't seen the worst of it yet," Brockwell said.
He expects consumers in the Southeast and Northeast to be pinched first, following the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast region.
Katrina pressures gas supplies
Katrina forced operators to close more than a tenth of the country's refining capacity and a quarter of its oil production, which sent gasoline prices surging.
Two major pipelines that supply gasoline to key terminals and distribution centers within the eastern U.S. were shut down due to power outages caused by the storm. Colonial Pipeline said it hopes to be back in partial operation soon, while the date of Plantation Pipeline's restart is not clear. Each day the pipelines are closed, supplies get backlogged and distribution centers must rely on reserves.
"With this kind of hiccup in refinery capacity, in stretched markets like California, you could see over $4 a gallon in gas," Evan Smith, an analyst at U.S. Global Investors, told CNN/Money.
While it's still too early to fully assess the damage caused by Katrina, efforts to build up inventories of crude oil, natural gas and other products like gasoline will be set back by the storm, according to Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at Global Insight.
In a research note, Behravesh laid out a worst-case scenario that puts average prices for regular unleaded gasoline at about $3.50 a gallon for the next four to six months.
"The impact on consumer spending in such a scenario would be very dramatic, cutting the growth rate by as much as 3 percent and pushing real GDP growth in the fourth quarter closer to zero," he wrote.
In a best-case scenario, he forecast retail pump prices to peak at $3 a gallon for a couple of months, but then fall back to around $2.50 by year-end.
The nationwide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded hit a fresh high of $2.619 Wednesday, according to AAA, the largest U.S. motorist organization, formerly known as the American Automobile Association.
Average gasoline prices have gained 40 percent in the last year.
Prices for crude oil are also up sharply and are currently hovering near record highs just under $70 a barrel.
All of this stuff is bs. I have to drive everyday from haysi to clintwood to school. If they keep going up ill have to wuit football and get a job to afford to come to clintwood.
